* This is a tentative review and the final beta score can change after the beta. This is based on my time with the beta as of 6/21/23. My formal review video will be after the beta period on the gaming channel. XDefiant Beta: This Beta is a Fun TimeThe XDefiant open beta just started and I have been enjoying the hell out of it. Movement is amazing, combat is fun, abilities and factions are cool, and game modes are a blast to play. I have been enjoying the escort game mode and its been fun stuff. Don't sleep on this mode. Hot Shot is a mode that combines COD's Cranked mode along with Kill Confirmed and bounties. Get the bounties to get cranked and bonus abilities and get points for your team. Zone Control has you race to either defend or attack the zones. Other game modes are also presented. Weapons and Loadouts: Detailed StatsMaking loadouts in this game is a joy. You can have 1 main weapon, 1 side weapon, but in this beta, the attachments are unlocked at the start of the beta. You can use this to your advantage when also looking into the stats of your weapons. On the detailed stats page (pictured above), you can see that you can track fire power at particular ranges, you can track rate of fire, mobility, accuracy, recoil pattern, and even how much ammo for each magazine (mag). When you change your attachments, check back with the detailed stat page to see what changed as well. To get to the detailed stat page, select your loadout, then go to the weapon's attachments, go to "see detailed stats" Server Stats: Right Side of Your ScreenXDefiant gives us another gift of finest wheat by showing us server stats (mine are on the PC version/Ubisoft version). You can find out the ping, PC packet loss, how your GPU is doing, and a lot of cool information. This is helpful to the developer to see where they need to work on in terms of networking with other players and helping them play some matches. This will be important as the beta continues Firing Range: COD Aint Got Nothing Like ThisThe XDefiant Firing Range/ Practice area has 3 zones. One for practicing assault, one for your abilities, and specials, and one for the firing range. It is a nice area for you, but what's impressive is the firing range in terms of what they offer. As pictured above, we can see that when going to the right side of the firing range, you can shoot weapons at targets, but at the same time, you get to see some stats on the right. For example, time to kill, shots to kill, last damage hit, and distance. This helps players see what type of damage they can do with their loadouts. Experiment with different attachments too. Firing Range II: Don't Forget Your RecoilTo the right of the firing range (with the target practice) is the recoil pattern center. This is where you can fire your guns and see where the recoil pattern is. This helps players when aiming in an actual game so that they can get more shots and be accurate with the weapons. When looking at your detailed stats page for the weapon, look under the accuracy section and there should be a number with a degree sign. This tells you your recoil and how many degrees (angle) your weapon will recoil when firing. Communication: Mark Rubin is Spot OnWhen it comes to communication, Mark Rubin, the one who is headlining the game, is spot on. As soon as players spot a problem, he and the team alert the players right away. As pictured above, there was a issue with servers (especially with a lot of people playing this week). He addressed it nearly right away and him and his team went right to work . COD does not have this level of communication until it hurts their bottom line (AKA the money). XDefiant is meant to be a free to play game and to see this level of communication is gold. The only thing I wish for is an extended beta because lots of people play on the weekends. Yuuki's Final Verdict (for the Beta): PLAY IT!!!!I don't think I need to say more. This beta is fun already and many players are ready to flock to it. The only negative I have is that it is too short, however, that aside, this gets my first "Francis Fire Seal of Approval" as it gets more than a 9.5/10 on my scale.
